Pre Total Knee Replacement Class

Who:

This class is designed and presented by Dr. Cassie Cook, Physical Therapist, to provide education to fill any knowledge gaps about what to expect prior to a total knee replacement (total knee arthroscopy).  If you are someone who is scheduled for a total knee replacement, or are considering one in the future, please join!

What:

After treating hundreds of people following total knee replacements in acute care, inpatient rehab, nursing facilities, and outpatient physical therapy, one thing is common: people across the board wish they had more information and more clear expectations prior to this surgery.

The class will include use of an anatomy model and pictures to discuss the structure of the knee, education about the mechanics of the knee, and an overview of what happens during a total knee replacement surgery (no graphic photos, just a bird’s-eye view).         

Perhaps most importantly, we will discuss a few exercises and stretches that can be done to prepare a surgical candidate for a smooth recovery.  Lastly this class will go over what to expect following surgery, as well as some commonly used rehab exercises.

What this course is not: an individual evaluation or medical advice.  If you wish to have a thorough, one-on-one, physical therapy evaluation, and a program tailored around your individual needs, please consider booking an evaluation instead of (or in addition to) this educational group class.

When:

Please join on either May 2nd, August 1st, or November 7th. The door will be open at 4:15, and the class will begin promptly at 4:30. Plan to join for 45 minutes to 1 hour: the time of the course will vary based on class participation and questions.

Where:

This class will take place within the Suites on Central Conference Room, just down the hall from the Bespoke Physical Therapy Clinic.  The Suites on Central is located at 331 W Central Avenue, with the entrance being located directly next to “Haven Local Shop” and across the street from “Bistro Pizza” and “Arabellas.”  Once inside the Suites on Central, people come immediately to a set of stairs.  Either use the stairs or elevator (keep walking past the stairs to find the elevator) to go to the second floor, and then you will turn right to find the Suites on Central conference room.
